Outside-in uptime monitoring and a status page for your SaaS
Your own dashboards say everything is fine until a customer tells you it isn't. An external check shows what users actually experience — and a public status page shows them you're on it.
Why this matters for saas & startups
Early-stage teams usually have app-level metrics but no independent view of whether the product is reachable. A DNS change, an expired certificate or a failing load balancer can take the whole thing offline while internal monitoring is healthy. Customers notice immediately, and silence from you makes it worse.
What to monitor
- Your marketing site and the login or app URL — separate monitors, since they often run on different infrastructure.
- A public health endpoint (for example
/health) that returns 200 only when your dependencies are up. - Your API base URL or docs site.
- SSL and domain expiry for every hostname customers use.
How OwlHound helps
- 5-minute checks, confirmed before alerts — failures are retried and confirmed, so every email is real. How uptime monitoring works.
- SSL and domain expiry warnings well before anything lapses. Learn more.
- A weekly report with uptime, outages and response times, and optional Slack or Discord alerts.
Tell customers before they ask
A public status page with 90-day history and a record of past incidents is a trust signal for prospects doing due diligence. Scheduled maintenance windows announce deploys in advance — and keep planned downtime out of your uptime figure.
Frequently asked questions
Can I monitor an API endpoint?
Yes, if it is a public HTTP(S) URL that returns a normal response. We check the status code and response time but don't send custom headers or request bodies.
Does OwlHound replace Datadog or New Relic?
No. It's an outside-in availability check with a status page — a complement to application and infrastructure monitoring.
Can I put my status page on my own domain?
Not at the moment. The page is hosted by OwlHound and shows your business name.
